MGM Resorts has entered into a partnership with Playtech to offer live casino content streamed directly from two iconic Las Vegas locations, MGM Grand and Bellagio. This collaboration aims to provide an authentic Vegas experience to players in regulated markets outside of the United States.

The MGM Live offerings will include popular games such as single and double-zero roulette, as well as baccarat. According to Playtech, these games will be available to operators in various regulated markets. Initially, the focus will be on Mexico and the UK, with plans to expand into additional regions in the future. “We will review the feasibility of offering this in the US over time and in line with igaming regulation,” explained Shimon Akad, Playtech’s Chief Operating Officer.

Akad highlighted the distinctive nature of the Las Vegas gaming experience. “The Las Vegas experience has always been the most unique gaming experience in our industry. Customers in regulated markets will experience the authentic sounds and visuals of Vegas and, in the future, experience immersive entertainment experiences,” he stated.

Unmatched Live Dealer Experience

Bill Hornbuckle, CEO of MGM Resorts, emphasized that the live dealer product will deliver unmatched experiences in the industry. “The launch of this new and exciting live casino offering, in partnership with Playtech and directly from Bellagio and MGM Grand in Las Vegas, furthers our strategic vision to be the world’s premier gaming entertainment company,” Hornbuckle commented.

Echoing this sentiment, Playtech CEO Mor Weizer expressed his excitement about the partnership. “This collaboration amplifies our commitment to providing unparalleled experiences and expands our global reach to our customers,” Weizer said. “This alliance combines the strength of MGM Resorts’ global prestige with Playtech’s extensive international market knowledge and innovative games.”

“If you think of the Vegas attraction and picture one of the world’s most popular game shows, infused with the allure and the charisma of celebrity hosts, that’s what we are creating for the players,” Akad mentioned, indicating that this concept is currently under development.

Expressing gratitude for being chosen as MGM Resorts’ technology partner, Akad said: “We share a common vision to develop and deliver innovative and state-of-the-art entertainment products and experiences in the digital and igaming spaces.”

Achieving Omnichannel Ambitions

In December 2023, MGM CEO Bill Hornbuckle revealed that the company is pursuing a comprehensive omnichannel strategy in Europe and beyond. This announcement followed MGM’s acquisition of LeoVegas for $604 million. Post-acquisition, MGM launched BetMGM in the UK, aiming to grow in markets without an existing land-based presence.

“Through BetMGM, both domestically and ultimately through what we do with LeoVegas – whether that’s in Europe, Canada or South America – we want to diversify into digital. We think it’s a meaningful way to continue to reach customers 365 days a year,” Hornbuckle remarked.

He also hinted at integrating online and brick-and-mortar gaming experiences. Push Gaming, acquired as part of the LeoVegas deal, is instrumental in these plans. “The idea that we could create our own games is really important, both to feed our digital assets, but also our brick-and-mortar assets and then ultimately to tie them all together,” Hornbuckle added.
