When it comes to offline and online gambling, Connecticut’s main difference from many other states in the USA is its focus on collaborating with the tribes. The state is home to two of the biggest land-based gambling venues in the country, both operated by Native American tribal groups.
The residents of Connecticut, as well as its visitors, can enjoy charitable gambling, lotteries, as well as pari-mutuel and simulcast betting. At the same time, Connecticut is one of the few states in the country that does not allow private ownership of any kind of slot machines at home, even if they are antique and over 25 years old. Home games are permitted, however, as long as there is no house edge.
In terms of charitable gambling, the state allows Bingo but takes a 5% cut in taxes off the games’ revenues. The gambling age ranges between 18 (for the lottery, pari-mutuel betting and charity bingo and pull-tabs) and 21 (for casinos and slot machines).
