Playboy and Gaming Technologies Launch Real-Money Rummy Game In India

PLBY Group Corporation, the pleasure and lifestyle company that owns the famous Playboy brand, has teamed up with Gaming Technologies to launch a brand new real-money Rummy mobile game on the Indian market.

Gaming Technologies Incorporated is a software platform provider which is most known for Vale, its sports betting and gaming brand that is currently quite popular in Mexico. The company also owns and operates Big Bola Casinos, the second largest land-based casino brand in Mexico. The brand was launched in 2005 and now it has 20 casinos spread across the country, with 5,980 slot machines, 150 live table games and 2,000 employees.

The rummy game that was set up by Gaming Technologies and that will carry the iconic Playboy brand will be launched in India by the end of 2021, and it is expected to become a huge success.

Playboy has diversified its business, the famous magazine is now just a small part of what the company offers on the global market. The company’s portfolio includes a variety of consumer products, gaming content and hospitality services.

Earlier this year, Playboy made an important step into the Indian market through a partnership with Jay Jay Iconic Brands, a leading fashion and lifestyle company in the country. Reena Patel, President of the International division of PLBY Group, said that India is a very important market for the future of Playboy and that the launch of the mobile rummy game is just a first step into the company’s strategy to cater to the young consumers’ desires.

Immense Potential Growth

The online gaming industry in India is expected to experience extremely fast growth in the coming years. A recent study made by Deloitte India announced that the industry will have an annual growth rate of 40 percent by 2022, reaching an estimated 2.8 billion dollars compared to the 1.1 billion dollars recorded in 2019.

Moreover, India’s online gambling market has seen explosive growth during the past twelve months and the sector attracted investments of 544 million dollars from August 2020 to January 2021. That amount is expected to double over the next year.

Roland Landersm, representing the All India Gaming Federation, said that his organization expects the Indian online gaming market to reach 500 million gamers by 2025 and surpass China and the United States.

Jason Drummond, founder and Chief Executive Officer of Gametech Technologies, added that there is great potential for the online games of skill market as well, and launching a product with such an iconic brand like Playboy would “create a substantial presence in the Indian market and provide consumers fun and authentic games unlike no other partners in the territory.”
