Playtech, the international developer of video slots and live dealer games, has announced that it now has a fully operational live casino studio set up in Zurich, Switzerland, the first of its kind in the country and only the second in Europe.

The new studio was built on the already existing site that was the fruit of the collaboration between Swiss Casinos and Playtech. That partnership started in 2019, when Playtech’s casino games and live casino suite entered the Swiss market. Then, in 2020, Playtech also launched its iPoker network in the country.

That collaboration made it possible for Swiss players to have direct access to the live casino tables provided by Playtech through the online casino website. The live dealer games provided by Playtech are all hosted by professionals with great experience in this field.

Patrick Mastai, Online Director at Swiss Casinos, revealed that the new studio was built “to an incredibly high standard.” Margarita Terlanova, Senior Customer Relations Manager at Playtech Live, added that the developer’s aim was to deliver a product that would make the players feel like playing inside of a land-based casino operated by Swiss Casinos.

Playtech was founded in 1999 and has developed into a powerful provider of video slots and live dealer games for online casinos. The company has around 6,400 employees across 24 countries, and its products can be found in almost all the largest online casinos in the world. Playtech’s live casino titles are currently broadcast from studios in the United States, Latvia, Estonia, Switzerland, the Philippines and Romania.

Playtech Takeover Still On The Cards

Meanwhile, Playtech is still the subject of a takeover offer submitted by Aristocrat, the powerful Australian developer of casino slot machines and digital games. The Australian company made its offer public in November and it also announced that it raised over 1 billion dollars to help push the deal over the line.

Playtech also received a preliminary approach from JKO Play, a company led by Formula 1 team owner Eddie Jordan and Keith O’Loughlin. However, JKO Play has not yet made a firm offer and Playtech has now imposed a deadline as it appears to be determined to speed up the acquisition process.

In fact, Playtech announced that JKO Play must make a firm offer for the company by 5:00 pm on Wednesday 5 January 2022. If JKO Play won’t make the offer then Playtech will be free to proceed with submitting the proposal from Aristocrat to its shareholders as they meet in the second week of January. However, that deadline would become ineffective if another buyer comes up with an offer before then.
