Jumbo Interactive, a leading digital retailer of both national jackpot lotteries and charity lotteries in Australia, has made a big step towards conquering the British market after having been granted a remote gambling software operating licence by the British Gambling Commission.

The license will allow the Australian company to sell its proprietary software-as-a-service online platform to operators in the United Kingdom. Jumbo already had the external lottery manager operating side of the business covered by the license granted to its subsidiary in Britain, Gatherwell.

Now Jumbo will be able to make available its dual offering in the United Kingdom market: the software-as-a-service solution for online platforms and a managed charities solution, which would be operated by Gatherwell.

An Important Step

Speaking about the British license that was just granted to his company, Mike Veverka, Chief Executive Officer of Jumbo Interactive, said“We are delighted to achieve this international expansion milestone which, together with our local subsidiary Gatherwell, will drive our growth strategy in the UK charities market.

This is an important step in Jumbo expanding its footprint in the UK following the great work carried out by the Gatherwell team to date”.

Jumbo was established in 1995 and the company was a pioneer in the online shopping industry after developing and launching one of the world’s first online shopping malls.

In 2000, the company started to get into the gambling sector by selling lottery tickets online, and now it focuses exclusively on the sale of official government and charity lotteries through digital platforms.

Jumbo operates Oz Lotteries, one of Australia’s largest digital retailers when it comes to lottery tickets, selling over AUD$150 million worth every year and managing over 2 million customer accounts.

New Agreements for The Australian Market

Last month, Jumbo Interactive reached an agreement with Western Australia’s Lotterywest, a deal which sees the state-owned lottery use the online software platform and related services provided by Jumbo for the next ten years.

That was the first such agreement with a government-owned lottery for Jumbo Interactive. Earlier this year, Jumbo Interactive extended the partnership with Tabcorp, which covers the business of reselling lottery tickets in New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Northern Territory, Australian Capital Territory and Tasmania, along with international jurisdictions.
